What a Twitter Card validator checks
X reads twitter:card and a handful of matching fields to build the preview shown when a link is posted. This tool reads the card type first, because summary, summary_large_image, and player each require a different set of fields, then checks whether the fields that type needs are present and whether twitter:image is an absolute HTTP(S) URL.
Twitter Card vs. Open Graph
X can fall back to Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) when Twitter-specific tags are missing, but the fallback is inconsistent across card types and doesn't set twitter:card itself. Set both explicitly rather than relying on the fallback — use the separate Open Graph Checker to validate the OG side of the same page.
Why a valid card can still show stale in a preview
X caches card previews per URL. A corrected tag may not show until the cache expires or you re-scrape the URL through X's own card validator. This tool checks the HTML you paste, not what X currently has cached.

No — it checks pasted HTML in your browser only. It does not crawl a URL or query X's card cache. Use X's own card validator afterward to confirm what X has actually cached for a live URL.
